I am a classically trained musician who has long been interested in the World Wide Web as a means of communication for organisations and individuals of all natures. In turning this interest into a professional enterprise I aim to bring a musician's level of dedication, perfectionism and creativity to the design process.

Design Philosophy

The Web is continually developing as a medium of communication. The challenge for a modern web designer is to build sites in such a way as to allow for their expansion and evolution as new techniques and media for Web usage are created - without leaving anyone behind in a blaze of technology!

I practise Web Standards in all my design work. This means that the three elements of site design - content, presentation and behaviour - are kept entirely separate. This results in sites that are fast, flexible and future-proof.

Search engine visibility is greatly enhanced by clearly structured web documents with no "hacks" to aid presentation. Updates and modifications can be made quickly and simply, and most importantly, your site is available to the widest possible audience with the widest range of Internet browsing devices. These could range from a businessman viewing your site on a mobile phone or PDA, to a visually impaired user with audio screen reading software.

My sites are built using XHTML, CSS and JavaScript/DOM, as well as PHP and MySQL databases for dynamic content.
